Internet sites are reporting that singer Chris Brown assaulted girlfriend Rihanna “with a deadly weapon” early Sunday morning and has been charged with one count of making felony criminal threats. from Mercury News

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Chris Brown has been charged with felony battery after an alleged violent incident on Saturday night, Access Hollywood has learned.

Earlier on Sunday, the LAPD was investigating Brown for assault following an alleged domestic violence felony battery against a woman reported to be the singer’s girlfriend, Rihanna , at 12:30 AM on Sunday in Los Angeles. Both Brown and Rihanna pulled out of Sunday evening’s Grammy Awards before the ceremony.

We’ve just learned Chris Brown has just turned himself in to the LAPD.

Chris is being investigated by the LAPD for an alleged domestic violence felony battery that occurred early this morning near Hancock Park in L.A.

According to the victim, her and Chris got into an argument which became violent — and cops say the woman in question had “visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker.”

The LAPD says Brown had left the scene by the time they arrived — and the identity of the victim is not released in domestic battery cases.

Brown and girlfriend Rihanna were together earlier last night, attending Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party — and both canceled their scheduled performances at tonight’s event.

The LAPD is currently investigating Brown for assault following an alleged domestic violence felony battery against an undisclosed woman at 12:30 AM on Sunday in Los Angeles.

According to the LAPD, the R&B singer and the woman were in a vehicle on North June St. in the Hancock Park area of LA, where the victim claims an argument occurred. Brown allegedly stopped the car and the woman suffered “visible injuries” and identified the singer as her attacker.

“Mr Brown is a suspect that we are looking for… we would definitely like to speak with him,” a spokesperson for the LAPD told Access on Sunday.
